AI can often make mistakes when answering your question. It often spreads misinformation, such as when you ask it to solve your problem. According to the College of Journalism, AI can give you wrong and fake answers from a website. When it comes to images, it’s hard to tell what’s real or fake. Scammers can use this to find out everything about you, and can even change their voice when calling them, which can lead to your information being at risk.
The mass unemployment worldwide is due to AI. Big corporations have been firing their workers. For example, according to the Seattle Times, Spotify cut off 17% of their workers for AI. Similarly, Duolingo fired 10% of their employees because of AI. It also affects students. Students can easily cheat on their tests, homework, classwork to the point when it’s a basic question that leads to the loss of critical thinking.
To get AI to answer your questions, it needs massive data centers, lots of electricity, and fresh water. According to Essi, AI also uses massive amounts of energy. Think about it, these things can be used for things to help us, but when using it, we waste our water and energy. For basic questions across the world, they use up to 5 million gallons of water, and annually, they use up to 700 billion gallons of water.
Although, AI can help you in some ways such as medicine. It can help spot diseases more often and easier. According to Harvard edu, they found that AI is helpful with finding diseases. This means Harvard doctors must learn and study AI to be able to use it. These facts show how AI can affect and benefit you in different ways, like medical, ecosystems, and school work.
