As many students probably know, Benicia is pretty lacking in stores to hang out and spend time in, especially for younger people. Well, now with the opening of this new store, there’s another place for you and your friends to check out! Gamer’s Guild of Benicia is the newest branch of the “Games of” store chain.
The store offers a wide variety of products and things to do inside. In terms of products available to purchase, the store carries all the popular trading cards such as Magic the Gathering, One Piece TCG, Pokemon, Riftbound, and Lorcona. They also carry new and lesser known or less popular games such as the brand new game Azuki, the Gundam card game, Weiss Schwartz, and when it releases the Cyberpunk TCG.
Gamer’s Guild of Benicia also carries non-trading card products, including board games of all varieties, warhammer mini-models, gundam model kits, supplies for models such as paints and brushes, terrain pieces for table-top games, and things like sleeves, dice, playmats, and storage for your hobby supplies.
They also do more than sell sealed products, they have a plethora of services offered in store, such as table reservations for tabletop games like Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons, weekly events for any trading cards offered in store with up to 48 player capacity, and community events are being considered for the future.
Since the store opened in early August, renovations are planned to improve customer experience. However, the only planned renovations in the near future is adding a multi-screen T.V display system for the play area to display tournament pairings, event leaderboards, and store info. They also plan to expand and build on the play area as the store settles in.
The new Gamer’s Guild of Benicia is a great addition to the town and will bring lots of foot traffic to nearby restaurants as its community grows. While for people who may not play or collect any of the products sold in store, it may seem insignificant, but for players and collectors it’s amazing, especially with the lack of accessible Card shops near Benicia without having to pay bridge tolls. Up until the also recently opened Retro Edge Games in Vallejo, the nearest stores without crossing the bridge were all the way in Fairfield. While the bridge tolls may not seem that bad for players wanting to attend the weekly tournaments, it quickly becomes incredibly expensive week after week.
For anyone curious or interested in a new hobby, checking out the new Gamer’s Guild of Benicia is a must and is a great way to meet people with shared interests and becoming a member in welcoming and wonderful communities.
