Everyone knows the pain of having a short playlist, or just being tired of the songs on them. While on paper the solution is simple, “oh just add more songs,” however, that opens up another problem, how do you know what song to add? This article is your answer to that question by giving you good and niche songs to make your playlist better and so you don’t look basic in music taste.
The first song is Not Like Us by the underground rapper Kendrick Lamar. The song is catchy, and is part of a series of songs between him and another fairly unknown rapper, Drake. Kendrick only has 70.7 million monthly listeners on spotify, with Not Like Us only having a little over 2 billion streams on spotify alone. This makes it a great niche song to listen to, while also helping support a small artist.
The next niche song is Earrings by Malcolm Todd. It’s a hidden gem worth listening to, with only a little under 700 million streams on Spotify, while the artist has only 39.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify, making them even more unknown than Kendrick Lamar. Many of Malcolm Todd’s songs give heartbreak vibes, making them perfect for that breakup playlist.
Next is a song a little more friendly for the family, with Believer by Imagine Dragons. You might have heard of them from younger family members, or maybe even yourself as a young child. However, it’s always good to have a playlist of niche childhood songs for family road trips, or just so you can have a blast from the past with Believer. This song only has just under 4 billion streams, and the band has 52.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Those are three niche songs to expand your music taste and improve any playlist that they are a part of, while making sure you don’t come off as a basic bandwagoner or a NPC.
