During the off-season, the Los Angeles Rams received blockbuster trades that could change the way they perform this season. In March of 2026, the Los Angeles Rams traded the 29th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, a 2026 fifth-round pick, a 2026 sixth-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick in return for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie. A little later in the off-season, on June 1st, 2026, the Rams traded their Outside Linebacker, Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft pick, a 2028 second-round draft pick, and a 2029 third-round draft pick. In return, the Rams received defensive end Myles Garrett, the all time sack leader in a season and the current defensive player of the year from the Cleveland Browns.
Then, a shocking change happened in the pre-season. On August 20th, 2026, the Superbowl Champion, Aaron Donald, came out of retirement and returned to the Los Angeles Rams. He signed a one-year contract worth $20 million.
The Rams defensive line is looking pretty good this season. With Donald coming back and him being considered as one of the greatest defensive players of all time, winning 3 defensive player of the year awards and being paired with Myles Garrett, this duo will be one of the most unstoppable in the league. A report from ESPN Analytics/NFL Next Gen Stats states, “Garrett and Donald are the top players in pass rush wins since 2017, despite Donald’s retirement and it being Garrett’s rookie year.”
Not to mention, their secondary team duo is something we should also look out for. Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, both coming from the Kansas City Chiefs. Both being superbowl champs, this duo is one to reckon with. According to The Ram’s Wire, “McDuffie and Watson are top 5 cornerback duos in the league right now. Both have chemistry together that will help on the field.”
The Los Angeles Rams defense is looking pretty good, and it may just be that push the Rams needed to win the Super Bowl.
