Halloween is a holiday that needs no introduction, kids go out and get free candy from people’s houses and get up to a lot of things that they probably shouldn’t. But everyone knows Halloween is incomplete without a good costume–and you’re running out of time–so what are some good costumes you could wear?
Maybe a character from a TV show would do the trick, on my instagram feed I’ve seen many cosplays as Hal Jordan from the new “Lanterns” show on HBO his outfit is relatively simple and would be easy to get your hands on, the only thing you would need to set the costume in stone would be a lantern ring. One student Walter Bush gave his opinion on the topic of Halloween costumes “I think you should repeat your Halloween costumes or buy and put them together second hand because of the environmental impact of creating and manufacturing new clothing” he explained. A second hand costume would be a good idea, thrifting is often a good strategy if you would like to be environmentally friendly.
A certain halloween costume has gained popularity recently: Spider-man. With the release of Brand New Day being so popular a Spider-man outfit would be a good and easy option, although, maybe a little generic. Gavin McAllister gave his ideas “You could go as a ghost” he said “just a white sheet, try to be ironic,” the idea of an ironic costume could also be helpful; get green facepaint and call yourself a frog, for example. A costume that makes people laugh can be way more of a hit than a “scary” one. That being said there are some jokes that have gotten old: people dressing as The Lorax is one of them. Personally I’d go as “The Dude” from “The Big Lebowski”. It’s an easy costume to throw together only needing cargo shorts and a robe, maybe boxers but the school would smite you.
So that brings me to my top five costumes for Halloween
- Spider-man
- Classic sheet ghost
- Last year’s costume
- Hal Jordan
- “The Dude”
That’s all I have to say for now. Have fun Panthers!
