The famous sci-fi television series, The Twilight Zone gained popularity in entertainment industry. It aired from 1959-1965 and was produced by Rod Serling. The franchise was one of the first to mix genres in one series. The show included surrealism, psychological horror, fantasy, and most prominently, science fiction. The show had allegories, symbolizing America’s fears during the postwar era, giving off suspense and superstition. Episodes like “The Monsters Due On Maple Street”, “Eye Of the Beholder”and “The Masks” are examples of the show representing things that happen in real life .
Twilight Zone ended in 1965, and was sold off to CBS even though it was still available for audiences to view. The rebooted show debuted on September 27th, 1985, including episodes that revamped stories written by authors such as, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, and Harlan Ellison. The show had three seasons and then ended in 1989. In 2002, it was rebooted again but only created one season by the network UPN.
Reboots have been an occurring trend in the film industry–re-imagining past entertainment for viewers. CBS network has announced a new Twilight Zone that is intended to air in 2019. “Get Out” director Jordan Peele has been casted for the series’ narrator similar to Serling. “Why would I ever jump into the most established, pristine shoes in all of the genre? I could rip Twilight Zone off and call it something different and not be compared to Rod Serling.
So I stepped away from it. And then several months later I got another call.” says Peele telling Variety, on the subject of him getting called for the narration. After casting Peele, Actress Sanaa Lathan has been casted for an episode. She appeared on Netflix’s show “Nappily Ever After”. She posted the teaser trailer on Instagram with the caption, “So excited to be a part of this classic reboot by the brilliant @jordanpeele. Can’t wait for y’all to see this one.”
The first episode will be “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet”. It will be a remake from the original episode “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”. Adam Scott from “Parks and Recreation” is casted as the main character in this episode. Other episodes haven’t been stated yet until the release of the show and the new show will add more information on it’s new remake.
