After only 15 issues, DC’s most recent Teen Titans series has come to an abrupt and sudden end.
Teen Titans Academy was the first major Teen Titans storyline DC has done in a few years. So when it was canceled after 15 issues, many fans were somewhat disappointed.
The first issue was released January 1st of 2021 and showcased a more matured version of classic characters such as Starfire, Nightwing, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy. The Titans have opened an academy to train up the next generation of Teen Titans.
The series had a somewhat rough start but soon found its footing and had some very interesting story arcs featuring a diverse and lovable cast of characters. The overarching story came to a climax in the last couple issues of the series with the main antagonist being defeated and the Titans seemingly finding victory. But just as they prepared to set up the next story arc, DC canceled the series.
Tim Sheridan announced “Alas, I’m afraid there won’t be time for any further story arcs, as DC has planned for Titans Academy to end with issue 15 in May,”
You may be wondering what will be in store for the Titans next. Luckily DC has plans for them.
DC has announced a new Dark Crisis series in wake of the “Death of The Justice League” Event. This series will showcase lots of hero’s working to stop a crisis while the Justice League is absent. The cover art for this series includes lots of hero’s, specifically, the Teen Titans.
Although we don’t see any of the new characters introduced in Teen Titans Academy, we will get to see our favorite classic characters in this upcoming series. It’s safe to say that fans are eager to see what is in store for our beloved Titans.
