The weather is beginning to hit higher temperatures, making perfect conditions for our local sports teams to hit the fields or courts. The sports that are in season currently are baseball, softball, golf, swimming, track and field, and boys volleyball. Due to complications this year, two of the teams have relocated to other locations for the time being, which are baseball and softball.
The various home locations include: baseball at Fitzgerald Field, softball at Liberty, golf at Blue Rock Springs, track is here at the Benicia High School, as well as boys volleyball, which is also played here in the school.
Two athletes were interviewed here at Benicia, the first one is Cal Segle, a freshman baseball and football player. I asked him about how his baseball season has been going so far, and what he expects in the future for the season.
“This season has been very fun for me and the team. I enjoy spending time with the boys, and we are very competitive. I also enjoy going to take pictures of the sports teams around town. I am able to go watch, and practice my photography,” said Segle
Stella Sylvia is a Junior here, and is a multi sport athlete. She does Cross Country, Soccer, and Track, “My favorite part of Track is travelling with my teamates. We all get to go together and meet up at the opposing locations. Sometimes it can be hard, but I always love to go have a fun day in the sun!”
To keep track of how each team’s season is going, you can check out Maxpreps. Just search Benicia, select the school, pick the level, then the sports, and bam. You can check records, stats, and the dates for upcoming games or matches.
