The best part about growing up is getting your first car, but when you’re not able to drive how are you getting around town? I asked Freshmans how they’re getting around this summer without cars?
Shaniya Thomas responded, “ If I don’t get a ride I just can’t go. Or I get an uber ”
Amel Butts said, “Walk or bus, it’s easier for me because it stretches my money out, when wanting to go for long distances.”
The most common answer was walking. Teens mostly prefer walking because it helps clear their minds. When walking with friends it keeps them active and not distracted with their devices. Walking actually increases bone strength and increases health and immune system. Teenagers don’t know this but, walking can help with increasing better mental health, And help building a fit body, and some apps offer to pay to walk as well.
The bus is another option that is a less expensive way to get a trip around town. The bus has a 85% chance of saving money. It’s a mental burden where you can work on the bus, read and relax. On the bus when feeling uncomfortable or need to make a stop, you can pull the line and get off wherever you’re at.
Public transportation is one of the main ways teenagers these days are getting around when parents aren’t available and gas prices are getting high. The bus is a great way for your time to get around.
Some other ways teens around is by Lyft or Uber. There’s a Lyft app just for teenagers where their parents can schedule their Lyft to get their kid somewhere while watching where they’re going. It is becoming popular to ride Uber or take an Uber so that is great branding and marketing for the teenagers to get rid of.
