The local Nation’s has finally built a soundproof dining area for theater students. The room is lined with sound-absorbing panels so that Benicia High School theater students can celebrate to their hearts content without their yells echoing across the establishment.
Around the world, theatre students have a common tradition where they gather at a local restaurant after putting on a show, especially after closing night.
These restaurants have to immensely prepare for these nights, as a mass of theatre kids are destined to flood their building at least twice a year, taking up the line and singing songs from the musical that they just performed.
“We’ve gotten noise complaints all the way from the church,” one Nation’s employee states. “Not to mention, we get families here that are trying to have dinner, who don’t know that the theater kids are coming.” Parents are afraid that the world is going to lose a future doctor or lawyer if their children were to talk to theater kids, fearing that they may join the cult.
As a result, Nation’s has now installed a completely soundproof dining area, complete with a digital ordering panel and a delivery chute so employees have no need to engage with theater students.
“One time, the improv team came by and they started doing a long-form skit while they waited in line,” another employee recalls. “They tried to bring us into it, but they never answered whether or not they wanted fries with their burger.” Needless to say, the employee reports that another long-form skit had formed with the prompt of “fries.”
The room can be found in a newly installed hallway. Any Benicia theater students who enter the building are immediately escorted to the dining area.
Surprisingly, Nation’s is the only establishment to have come up with this solution. This solution may potentially be used around the world in the future, and we will have more lawyers and doctors making an impact in the world.
